Primary Traditional Functions
Nourishes Yin and Moistens the Lungs Pathogenic dryness attacking the lung may result in symptoms of dry mouth, dry throat, dry cough with no sputum or scanty difficult to expectorate sputum. Sometimes hemoptysis or blood streaked sputum may be present

  • Heat and dryness in the Lung from dyspnea, dry cough, chest fullness and pain
  • Fire and dryness in the Lung from coughing with blood and or thick, yellow, difficult to expectorate sputum and chest pain

Chronic dry cough from Lung yin deficiency

Cautions & Contraindications

  • Contraindicated for clients with coughing caused by wind-cold or damp phlegm accumulation
  • Contraindicated for clients with diarrhea from cold and deficiency of the middle jiao
  • Use of Mai Men Dong may be associated with drowsiness and sedation. Individuals taking this herbs should exercise caution while driving or operating heavy machinery.

Note: Since Dendrobium has become difficult to import, Ophiopogon paired with Asparagus Root have been used as a worthy substitute.
